We would like to inform Furuno customers that The General Lighthouse Authorities of the UK and Ireland—Trinity House, the Northern Lighthouse Board, and Irish Lights—will discontinue their Differential GPS (DGPS) service in March 2022.

Please refer to the following article for more information : Discontinuation of DGPS | Trinity House

What does this mean?

As of 31 March 2022, DGPS receivers will no longer receive DGPS signals in UK Coastal areas where it was previously available.

GPS/GNSS receivers will continue to work like normal.

How will it affect Furuno Products?

Furuno GPS/GNSS devices that have DGPS function will be affected when operating in/around UK waters.

The equipment may show a “lost signal” alarm related to DGPS while navigating into UK waters.

What action is required?

If this happens, you should be able to simply acknowledge the DGPS alarm without interruption to normal navigation.

The GPS/GNSS device will continue to provide positional data.

If you find DGPS alarms frequently occur, there is the option to disable the DGPS function via menu settings, so that the GPS unit receives GPS/WAAS or GNSS/SBASS signals only.

Please refer to the relevant operator’s manual for guidance related to your particular model.

As mentioned above, GPS/GNSS receivers will continue to work like normal. This situation will only affect the DGPS function.

If you have any issues or questions, please feel free to contact your National Distributor.
